I showed up for Day Two of the $1k PLO Mystery Bounty event feeling excited and confident. My stack was right in the middle of the field of 786 returning players, but I was ready to gamble. The prizes were enticing:
Almost $330,000 for First Place and then various bounty prizes ranging from $500 to $100,000:
I was ready to take some chances with some non-stellar hands to bust some shorter stacks out. I wanted to balance the gamble with some pragmatism so that I wouldn't miss my shot at the gold bracelet.
Early on, the shortest stack at my table moved all-in and I 3bet to isolate her with KsJsTh7d. She rolled over QsQh9c9h and we flopped a king. At that moment, I collected my first-ever live MB prize:
That was exciting, but I had only begun. Throughout the day, I collected two more bounty prizes. It's exciting to realize that you have a 2 in 375 chance of winning $100,000!
Such a tease.
This one was a big pot, a four-way all-in that gave me a 1.5xAVG stack with 260 players remaining in the tournament!
That's 986,000 chips.
Sadly, the next two hours featured a lot of heartbreak and I finished in 200th Place overall.
Including bounties, we profited $3,490 in this event. I had a great time, but I was really hoping for that bracelet.
Today, it's the $1,975 (I always round) Hall of Fame Bounty event. If I bust any member of the Poker HoF, I will collect a prize in the amount of the year of that player's induction even if I don't finish in the money.
The bankroll stands at $27,670.
You made it very exciting for us to learn about your bounties. That is so cool the way they show your name and the chest and the amount. Very entertaining. Sorry you didn’t get the bracelet but I’m still very proud of you.
I’ve seriously just started doing mystery bounties at my local neighborhood game. I host a 3-table tourney and do envelopes and reveals. It’s added some spice to the regular Holdem tourney. Cool to see you finally get that first one in a live event!!
