On Saturday, I tried to shake off the sting of busting out of the Main Event, and doing so was made much easier by the presence of Mama Fletcher, who has been in town with me for a week. We enjoyed a nice day together and I put everything in perspective.
That night, I had an absolute blast doing commentary for Day 1D with Joe Stapleton and Caitlin Comesky for PokerStars. Three comedians, one booth! What's the worst that could happen?
After a good night's sleep, it was time to grind online. I was really excited for the big Mystery Bounty event with $1.5 million guaranteed. I felt that many players who were out of the Main Event would be on tilt and perhaps not playing their best. I was right.
I was also excited for the $400 Colossus, the $500 Sunday MB, the Sunday Major, and more. Overall, I spent $2,965 on buy-ins with the potential to return over 200 times that amount.
Early on, I was crushing it. I had a big stack in the Colossus and the big MB. I was killing it in the Major. Overall, it was feeling like my day had come.
I busted out of the Colossus with JJ vs. 88, 50 spots from the money. I didn't cash in a satellite paying six spots despite having the chip lead with 18 left. Etc. Etc. If you really hate me, you will enjoy the most recent video on twitch.tv/claytoncomic very, very much.
The main focus was the mystery bounty event, and I got into the perfect spot versus an abysmal opponent. He raised, another clueless guy called, and I 3bet with KK.
The awful player, who had raised UTG, now called my big 3bet and the other guy folded for the first time in his life.
My opponent led for piles of chips on a six-high flop with two spades. I couldn't wait to get the rest in. Turned out I was ahead of my opponent's jack-high flush draw. Now, my advice is to avoid raising UTG with Js7s, but if you do and someone makes it 10,000, I would recommend folding. This player got all his chips in very bad.
The five on the turn gave him a few more outs, but I was still well ahead. The river brought the flush and it hurt my soul. I would have had 1.5xAVG chips with an hour left of registration.
Rough day of online poker as I ended up cashing in none of the events I entered. It be like dat sometimes.
Today, I am playing the $600 Ultra Stack WSOP event. The field is absolutely massive.
The bankroll stands at $27,880.
So sad i missed the stream last night, but sounds like i would had to cry myself to sleep. Thanks for sharing these beats. We all have them, but you feel so lonely and sad when it does happen. Feel free to head over to the daily at southpoint or the orleans and take it down for fun!
Hey Clayton, the bank roll was 40K in the Venetian post 3 days ago. Didn't you satty into the main? So shouldn't the bank roll be 10K higher?
